Myth-No money for the Monk?
5:51:00 AMKrishna RaoWhen my dear friend wrote of becoming a monk, I was surprised to see that he has mentioned about not having any money but still having eternal peace and God!
Strange as it may sound, I have myself left many a times to search for that elusive peace and God but have always been kicked back to base by my Guru.
My Guru showed me that there are many a con-men who masquerade as God men in spiritual India.
No one becomes a realized person after reading spiritual texts,otherwise all the pundits and pujaris would be realized by now!
I read in today's paper that they charge anywhere between Rs.35k for a 2 hour puja to a Rs.2k.And here we are talking of no money for the monk!
They are trained to become priests but not trained to be realized. They are trained to charge hefty sums for a puja and the mundane knowledge of the Veda's!
Here we read recently about a God man who was caught on video for sleaze.
There are others who are careful of not exposing themselves openly.
I know of a saint who charges $10000 for a 5 minute darshan to rich Indians and $100000 for expats.
We have some more who charge a sum of $100 for a 3 days retreat in India.
I have never got receipts issued by these so called God men.
Once I asked a great Guru's assistant,if he says that he has a billion disciples then he has collected over $10 billion by now, has he ever declared that to anyone?
It is all a money making racket and the true spiritual aspirants get conned into shelling out good sums of money for the upkeep of their fancy ashrams and coteries.
Now you have heard of the Rolls kept earlier,now we have special planes flying down Swami's.Just the cost of decorating the Gods is a huge amount, so think of the garlands adorning these fancy Swami's.
Then you have people who write tons of books and sell them to such aspirants.
The amount collected by such book donations also is a tidy sum.
Money makes the world go round so my dear friend forget this journey without money for the sake of getting happiness and finding God!!!
Remember we have richer Gods all over India who are becoming richer by the day and simultaneously making the agents who promise darshan of such Gods richer too.
The Gods nowadays wear crowns and sit on thrones of gold and silver.
Please forget this silly notion of getting to the great God without any money.
To become a true aspirant, you do not require to go to any fancy location or attend breathing exercises or body contortion classes.
Know that it is important to first find a Guru who is not after your money but is sincere enough to take you through the paces for reaching enlightenment.
He does not care to build ashrams or collects donations for some bullshit purposes.
He truly cares for imparting true knowledge of the spiritual and does not conduct classes in which he distributes degrees of enlightenment. Or makes you a teacher after attending a silly course.
Know that true knowledge is actually free and available for the true aspirant, and try to get to that One Guru who can guide you through the process of spiritual ken.
God will come to your doorstep if you are sincere and true in your longing for Him.
So do your duties and keep that constant eye on the spiritual quest and get a true Guru for yourself who will take you there.
