Killer Time

I was watching a person sitting on his bed ruing the day he came to know that he suffered from the dreaded disease cancer. He is nearly 78 years old. Having lived his full life with gusto and verve, he was now looking so crestfallen and full of fear and pain for loosing his life. I asked him what he wanted now? He immediately talked of living well and having back his earlier life. He wanted an extension to his earlier life where he lived like a king. I looked at him sadly and said that after having lived for such a ripe age he should now think of retiring forever instead of asking back for this wretched life! The best thing that he could have asked for was immediate death but he needed the life to live some more.

Why does a person want to live so much? What is it that makes a person crave so much to be alive? Have you not suffered a lot to ask for such silly stuff? Instead of asking for life he should ask for liberation from all his lives and no coming back and here we have people craving for some additional time.
Take the case of his son, who asked for a transfer to the big city when he met me. I asked him again and again if that's what he wanted, since his demand was to live with his wife and kids. Here far away he was getting a huge pay and great benefits. He immediately got a transfer to the big city and then within a few months he lost that job. At the cost of being close to family, he had to forgo the job as well. he now works for a small company taking a pay cut of nearly 75%. That means he now does double the work at one fourth the price in his big city. There is travel involved too so he now gets lesser time with his family as well. So before you ask for some strange requests bear in mind the kaalchakra or the wheel of time moves strangely. Let destiny work its magic and do not ask for some silly desire of yours. You may end up adding a few more lives to your already huge backlog of lives to lead in the future.
So asking out of turn outside destiny is not correct, since destiny is preordained but future karma's happen due to every want of ours. Just to give you an illustration here. Let us say there is no marriage in your destiny written but when you ask God for getting married, you not only get into the trap of your karma but also of the new spouse, family that they bring, friends and relatives you will sire. You never knew this entire bandwagon came as a package deal, right? So suffer you must not only for that which you asked for but also an entire new reasons too.
So why not let destiny play its card the way it has to and lets not ask for any other additional deals with it! The one thing that we need to know is that this life has been given to get liberation from all your cycle of lives. To move towards the Self and getting Self Realized never to come back ever. Can we ask God for that instead of some trinkets, money, wife, kids or whatever. All these carry their own lineage of karma's!
So stop asking for anything and live life to the fullest hoping that in this particular life you meet your savior called the Guru and he takes you on the path of liberation.
