Happily Ever After

I was reading some post where the author has written a post which was a tad sad.
The comment the followed was I wish they lived happily ever after!
Strangely, this type of stories have become as rare as the people who win the million Dollar lottery.
We all go out in the world with rose tinted glasses and think that we will have happy endings all the time but destiny has something else in store for us.
An actor is worthy enough till they give hits but the moment they are giving flops no one remembers them. Same is the case with every other instances in life.
Be it marriage, job, studies or any other.
The happiness is short lived and the search continues for the elusive blissful state.
I still remember the Irani restaurants in Mumbai where the owner used to say,"Arre dikra, do number pe ek panikam de. Aur saab ko pooch lena brun maska mangta hai kya?"
Last when I visited the memories still remained but the places had disappeared just like our sad endings.
I also visited the first fancy Konkani style restaurant in Mumbai at Bandra called Sayaba and felt sad that they have so much competition around them that they have lost the significance to most Mumbaikars. Even my taxi driver insisted that I visit some other place. But I enjoyed the beautiful stuff there. The vadapao at Vile Parla or the paan at the corner of NM college.
The Puncham Puri opposite CST station still smells the same with their amazing puri bhaji with the chillies.
And here I am talking of living happily ever after.
The deterioration continues and the old has to give space to the new.
Marriages deteriorate, places go to ruins, the order changeth and the world turns over a new leaf.
So the adage-happily ever after hardly can sustain in anything which undergoes change.

  1. Happily ever after has nothing to do with old and new. Its a state of life ageless and timeless.Who says happily ever after doesn't exist in today's times? I know they do. I see them all around me...everyday. Try opening your eyes to finer things life has in store for u. Maybe you'll see it too

Regarding your post flawless writing....very well written... for few seconds i actually agreed with you, than my eternally romantic side brought me back to good sense..;P.
