Myth of Afflictions by Gods&Ghouls
1:09:00 AMKrishna RaoThree types of afflictions are enumerated here.Those which happen to us due to worldly causes or because of elements which can be cured by medicines and potions,etc.Those which happen due to some unnatural causes like strange illnesses or miseries due to unknown circumstances and lastly those which happen due to our own mind.
Know that the first is easily curable by natural methods of taking medicines,massages,potions,therapy,operations or by any alopathic means.We can overcome these problems in our life by going through known methods of approaching a doctor,hospital,therapists,etc.There are always a cure available for such ailments or afflictions.Problems connected to the 5 elements called earth,wind,fire,water and ether are curable by us.
The second type that affects us are connected to some causes which are beyond our ken or normal understanding.Suddenly you find yourself falling ill or getting affected and the causes are unknown can be attributed to some elements unknown.For such a problems the solutions are also strange. We get relief from some strange methods.You may find that some person may suggest that we put some grains in front of cows or go to some places and donate money. Or they may suggest that we should dip our feet in salt water or take a strange pill which may be made from cow dung or some strange substances. Now you may wonder how come these strange substances cure you, but then I said that the affliction is itself unknown so the cure is also strangest.
Now we come to the afflictions of the mind or those that happen to a person due to the inner causes.These can be cured through proper treatment by practicing psychologists,psychiatrists,mind workers,motivators,and many such people.
Now we always wonder why we get affected by such different maladies?
A person develops cancer at a particular age or some body part starts to falter. Now when you look at it logically,you will know that it is programmed into the body system. Just the way whitening of the hair,teeth falling,arthritis,hearing problem,etc..
They happen due to age,genetics or other known reasons.On investigations we can come to know that the precursor exists in the genes. Then the environmental problems of pollen or dust affects the breathing,etc. so we can explain the two together and find proof of it and cure also.
In the spiritual we see a saint asking you to eat groundnuts to cure loose motions, or some such unconventional methods. The saint has control over the three world and so he can cure by any trivial method which may have no direct bearing to the person or disease. Just a whiff of a scented jostick cures a person. Or a strange looking amulet does the trick. Remember they have strange powers over the unknown hence they can do it. They transfer the disease to some other entity also and cure you or take on the affliction themselves also. For them it is like waving a wand but for the common folks it means a miracle. It is alright to feel like that,anyway we still thought that diseases are caused by ghouls and bad deities, so why bother?
Just get cured and live a healthy life.
The above afflictions are called by three names-Adhibhautik,Adhidaivik and Adhayatmic types in our ancient parlance.
