And They Lived Happily Hereafter...Duh?

Now we have come across this line in our life in all the stories and myths surrounding us.

There is a whole load of story to tell before the hereafter and there are no stories to tell after that.
Does it mean that life becomes a mundane one without any untoward incidents which requires us to reopen the cases? Or does it mean that there is truly happiness at the end of the rainbow? Or does it mean that there is nothing of interest that can bring us that taut thriller we had read earlier? Frankly everyone has to go through life with so much and more and yet the stories end with such nonsensical stuff which says that the lived happily hereafter.
When two people are in love and there is so much to tell about their life when the affair is happening that once they get married the whole story disappears into marital bliss. Does it? I am not being sceptical or sarcastic but life has never been a bed of roses even for Arjuna after the Kurukshetra war. I am sure he has gone through hell far worse than before. Snow White has her problems as well and must have gone through enough skirmishes to write another story. But we have never heard a prequel or a sequel after that one. So they must have never lived happily ever after then!
So why do we so much pay attention to such stuff which carries so much of pathos and never want to know what happened to them after that.
The one reason why we may not want to know or never know is because just like there is a lot of questions on afterlife and no answers, in the same way we have no clue about the whereabouts of the principle characters after the story is over. And whom to ask?
I still wonder many a times where did Gillian Anderson go after the series X-Files, or what happened to Amrish Puri when he disappeared from films. Let me tell you just the last example. Amrish died a very sad death in a hospital and for many days no one came to see him when he was lying there. Only after he died did someone come to know about that. My uncle who was in the same hospital recounted this to me. Funny, how life treats us once the story ends and the whole world thinks that they lived happily ever after.
What happened to Buddha at the time of his death? We know he attained Buddha hood but could he have got poisoned to death? Similarly couldn't Arjuna have gone to far east to conquer lands and married a lot of princesses and reigned over far off lands. These are some things we have never bothered to know or they are insignificant for us to know or read about. So what happened to Harry Potter after he became big or did Veeru from Sholay have children with Basanti?
There must be a lot after the end....... yahan kahani khatam nahi hoti hai mere dost.....
So there is a lot to say and do. The heroine has a divorce or finds another guy or the hero dies of pancreatic cancer or just that they die an ignominious death without a soul in sight and the municipal authorities come and take away the lawaris bodies.
So let us say this to all the stories that nothing ever ends happily ever after.
There is no end which can be happy or full of joy, the way we think of.
The end is always full of strife and troubles and no one can truly say that there is a happy ending to everything. Death is always a great equalizer they say so it must be so!
